I have to be honest with you. I am not happy about summer ending. It is my favorite time of the year. I love the weather. I love going to the beach. I love the easy-breezy way of life. I love it all! But, as they say, “All good things must come to an end.” The only saving grace to this whole summer-ending-thing is that fall is an awesome season too, especially in New England, where I live.
With fall comes the wonderful opportunity to decorate our homes, etc. with all sorts of colorful and natural things. Here is a sampling of designs I have created in past years to hopefully send you into the fall with some decorating inspiration!
I love all the natural elements of fall. Don’t you just love the gourds, pumpkins, mums and berries you find this time of year?
I often find things in my yard that I add to my fall designs, as well. The bittersweet (unfortunately…it’s a terribly invasive plant) and dried hydrangea blossoms came from my garden.
The vibrant colors of fall are beyond compare. The flowers almost scream to be placed in a vase!
Fall can also offer subtle beauty, as well~
Adding seasonal favorites to a shed can enhance the curb appeal of your house and even add whimsy to your home.
Cornstalks…haybales…seasonal flowers, fruit and flags…all can add to the appeal of any structure on your property~
Fall window boxes offer another place to get your creative juices flowing. Here I purchased some fountain grass, pumpkins, ornamental cabbage and then searched the yard for colorful branches and hydrangea blossoms.
A wreath on the door is almost a must!
Of course, you really shouldn’t forget the front entry of your home either. This is where people come and go throughout the day. Having pretty fall decorations at your front door will make you and your guests smile.
And, don’t forget to play around with flowers this time of year. You can come up with all sorts of flower combinations and create something that will look great on your dining table or anywhere you choose!
Now that I look at it, fall really does have a lot to offer. I shouldn’t have been so sad about summer coming to an end, after all!
